Feel like crap. I spent all day Sunday and Monday afraid to go more than 5 feet from the bathroom because everything I ate went straight through. Today my throat hurts. Blech. Nevertheless, I am at work. I had to drop #1 Son off for summerschool this morning, and as work is between there and home it seemed silly not to actually stop here. Besides, I’d rather save PTO for something fun. So I’ll come in here and infect everyone else.

Persistent Illusion is moved! Yea! Moving turned out not be be quite as straight-forward as the original install. I spent a lot of time not being able to log in at all. I’ve somehow screwed up the old version on mommymonster.com so I can’t log in there either. But it’s not that big a deal because I’m just using that one to try out stuff.

Note to self: Next time, get everything set up like it was a new installation, and then import all of the tables except users and options.

I’m fairly happy with the new styles. I added Alex King’s style switcher so that Persistent Illusion is now skinable. So, if you don’t like my taste in sand, mirages and lizards, you can revert to the basic mommymonster style or even (gasp) the Word Press default. I added a few of Alex’s styles also (thanks Alex), tweaked a bit to handle some of my proprietary stuff like the quotes at the top and the news feed. I’ll throw some new styles up as I get around to it.

I really like the transparent box effect on the “mirage” style. Sometimes I surprise myself. A “real” designer would probably find lots of sucky things about the whole site. If I were trying for a more commercial venture, I’d obviously go for a more streamlined and faster-loading design, like “Dots” or “Blue Fade” (although I’ve had people tell me they really like what I did with mommymonster.com). I’m glad I only have to please myself.
