cabled scarf

This scarf is an original pattern vaguely inspired by Lily Chin’s reversible rib cabled shawl.

I knit this from 5 skeins of Berroco Glace (a 100% rayon ribbon) in color #2344, “Pink Champagne” on a set of Lantern Moon US # 9 ebony straight needles. Its finished size is approximately 50” long x 5” wide.

The picture to the right shows both sides of the scarf. The picture below is a close-up of the cables. (Click on either picture to enlarge.)

Those near and dear to me know that I am in no way a “pink” person. I’m a green person, or a mauve person, or even a blue person. But not pink. This scarf was made as a birthday present for my friend L, who is definitely a pink person. When I saw this yarn at the LYS, I immediately thought of L. She must have had ESP, because on the day I gifted it to her, she happened to be wearing a pink blazer that matched perfectly the color of the scarf.
